Worship

What is worship?

Worshiping is to reverence (show deep respect) and adoration ( honor with devoted love) to God.

Yet, today many people worship different things beside God. They make these things their Idol god's. They hold these Idol's before God.  Examples: People such a Celebrities, Relationships, Sports, Frat's or Sororities, Money, Material things, and so on. What ever it is you put before God can become an Idol.

How are we to worship?

John 4:24 :

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Worshiping God is suppose to come from the heart. God is a spirit and we all have spirit's so when we worship him he want's it to be true worship. An example of true worship would be found in Luke:

Luke 7:36-47

And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

Here is the story of the woman with her alabaster box that carried very precious ointments. A lot of woman in these times would take their alabaster box and break them at the feet of the man they wanted to marry. Oh no! But not this woman she wanted to give her all to Jesus because she saw in him something more. Luke 7:38 says :

"And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. "

This woman worshiped Jesus from her heart weeping and wiping Jesus feet with her hair. The people around her didn't understand her worship Luke 7:39 says :

"Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner."

All that they saw is that she was a sinner but all Jesus could see is her pouring her heart out to him. Luke 7:40-47

And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.  41There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

God want's your worship and your praise no matter if your sins are greater or less then someone else. As long as it come's from the heart no matter who we are we must praise.
